It’s another episode of gun violence affecting our Las Vegas children. A shooting left one child dead and another child critically injured¬† during an incident on March 7.

According to Las Vegas Metro Police, officials received reports of a possible shooting. Police arrived to the 5300 block of Boulder Highway a little after 6 p.m.

According to Fox 5, police told the TV station that both victims were under the age of 10.

Las Vegas Metro Police Department’s Homicide Section said in a press release that the bullet came through a wall from a neighboring apartment, which lead to the two children being shot by the bullet.

Medical transferred one of the children to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where “he was pronounced deceased,” according to Metro’s Press Release. The other child was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

This investigation is ongoing, according to Metro Police. At the time of this article’s publishing, the victims’ identities and cause of death haven’t been released. The Clark Country Coroner’s Office will be the entity to release this information.

This isn’t the only recent case of a children being shot in the Las Vegas area.

According to another press release, an incident happened in December 2022 when a 14-year-old girl was shot in the area of Palos Verdes and Kolson Circle.

According to police, 38-year-old Gregory Williams is being accused of being the alleged shooter. According to detectives, officials learned that Williams and another man were fighting.

“During the fight, Williams produced a firearm and fired at the male, missing him and striking an innocent 14-year-old girl who was in the area,” the press release states.
