One of the most popular fast-food giants, McDonald's, is taking a new approach to serving their customers. For years, the company prides themselves in serving fresh food in a quick manner.

This business tactic mindset is still in affect today but with a slight change. The fast-food giant is beta-testing a single fully automated location with no employees.

The company rolled out their first location on January 30, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. The contactless location will still host inside dining and drive through access.

FoodieMunster on Instagram posted a video on December 16, 2023, showing how the new system works. Customers who want to dine in will be greeted by a touchscreen which is where they would order. Guests can either pick up their food from a pick-up window or a robot will bring out the food to your table.

Customer who wish to go through the drive-through will order from a touchscreen as well as they wait for their food. When the food is ready, a conveyor belt will lower the food down to a cart and then push the food out to the customer's car window. Will the ice cream machine work? That question, we cannot answer.

Twitter account, @Cesonson posted how allegedly Las Vegas, Nevada, will be one of the first cities after Texas to try out the new automated ordering.

The food service industry has been in hot discussion debating how much industry workers should be paid. Witnessing a fully automated fast-food location has fast-food workers in a frenzy. According to Minimum-wage.org, Texas pays $7.25 an hour. In Nevada, the minimum wage is $10.25 which is $3.00 more than Texas and still not great as a livable wage. In the grand scheme of things, if the fast-food giant decides to open more fully automated locations, thousands of employees will lose their jobs.

We wonder what the future will hold and if other fast-food chains will hop on the McDonald's automated location chain.
