In a series of Instagram Story posts celebrating her longtime friend, Lala Anthony's birthday on Sunday (June 25), the SKIMs founder revealed the pair's hunger for adventure. She stated they both "live in the moment and don't post all of our world travels and amazing memories together," alongside a photo of the duo lounging on a boat. "We were on a boat in the Bahamas probably laughing and talking s--- lol," Kim, 42, added.
Whales and Sharks, Oh My!
In another photo of the two wearing scuba diving gear on a boat, we see Lala, 41, smiling at the camera while Kim makes a kiss face. "We usually are the adventures ones when on vacation and will jump off any boat, swim with whales and sharks and not care about our nails and hair getting messed up," she wrote.
Sink or Swim in SKIMS
Following her statement, Kim shared images of her new SKIMS campaign on social media: Faux leather & scuba swim. In the series of images, Kim and the models are slicked up with oil, posing in some of the most bizarre ways, as many on Instagram have noted. In a few of the photos, Kim is seen lying down on a male model who has a highlighter-yellow buzzcut. One person commented: "What in the low budget advertising is this." While another said, "What in the baby oil is this even advertising? [laughing emoji]" A third said: "Weirdest shoot, campaign and product." Criticizing the faux leather aspect of a swim campaign, another person wrote: "Ya because that’s how I like to lay in the sun with some pleather boots."

Despite the criticisms of the pleather and rubberized swim collection, SKIMS will open its first flagship store next year. Per Bloomberg, the first store will open in Los Angeles in the first half of 2024, followed by a second opening in New York.
