Forbes has put together this tally of the best banks in America. To do the research, Forbes joined forces with market research firm Statista and surveyed about 31,000 U.S. residents. "Participants were asked to name all the banks and credit unions where they have a checking or savings account and evaluate these institutions based on criteria such as customer service, the quality of the financial advice representatives offer, whether fees are transparent and reasonable, ease of navigating the company website, on-location branch services and the overall level of trust the companies inspired," they explain in the study.
Also, note that large, nationwide banks and credit unions with branches in 15 or more U.S. states were excluded. Hence, the winner are the best of the smaller, regional institutions. Some of the excluded banks include Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo and Navy Federal Credit Union. At the end of their research, Forbes gave 164 awards to 137 unique banks across all U.S. states.

In other news, looking to make money outside of investing with a bank? Check out a list of companies hiring remote workers below.
There's a lot of interest from American workers to find jobs to work remotely. Now, some companies are exclusively going that route. The number of jobs that state in the job description that workers can be remote has almost tripled from pre-pandemic levels. Specifically, the number has gone from about 4% of in 2019 to about 12% of jobs in 2022, according to ZipRecruiter.
"The pandemic-induced 50-year acceleration in the shift to remote work has now firmly taken root as a win-win-win for workers, businesses, and the economy," ZipRecruiter.com says. "For workers, it offers the chance to access distant opportunities, save time and money, lower the risk of contracting Covid, escape gas price inflation, work from anywhere, and spend more time with family. For businesses, it provides access to a wider and more diverse talent pool, reduces real estate and overhead costs, and increases labor productivity while reducing absenteeism. And on a national scale, it may help us avoid a wage-price spiral."
When it comes to the type of companies looking to hire remote workers, according to ZipRecruiter.com, it's high on tech jobs. "The share of job postings offering remote work was slowly growing before the pandemic, thanks to the rise of technologies such as cloud computing and video conferencing, but the trend accelerated at the start of the pandemic, and has continued to build," they state. They add that even though roughly 12% of job postings now "explicitly state that employees may work remotely, there is considerable variation across industries, with less than 1 in 50 job postings offering remote work in transportation and storage (unsurprisingly), but more than 1 in 4 job postings offering it in the technology sector."
