In an unexpected turn of events, the grocery chain Trader Joe's issued a recall notice for one of its snacks due to an unusual issue. While product recalls are typically associated with health hazards like salmonella or other contamination concerns, this particular recall took an uncommon twist.

Trader Joe's is issuing a recall on two popular cookie varieties because they could contain rocks. The products in question are the "Almond Windmill Cookies" and the "Dark Chocolate Chunk" cookies with almonds. According to the grocery chain in a release, they received alerts from there about the two items with stock keeping units (SKU) SKU# 98744 and SKU# 82752.

More on the Trader Joe's Recall

The company has removed all possibly affected products from sale and ensured their destruction. In light of this, Trader Joe's is urging customers who have purchased or received any donations of these products not to consume them. Instead, they are encouraging customers to either dispose of the items or return them to any Trader Joe's location for a full refund.

The snacks that might contain rocks all have "sell by" dates ranging from October 17 to October 21. If you have any products from this time frame, it's important to check and take the necessary steps as advised by Trader Joe's to ensure your safety and well-being.

This recall comes in the wake of two other recalls earlier this year involving a coffee product and a fruit product. In May, Trader Joe’s Instant Cold Brew Coffee has been recalled due to potential glass inside the container. Back in March, Trader Joe’s Organic Tropical Fruit Blend was potentially contaminated with Hepatitis A.

If you have any inquiries regarding the recall, Trader Joe's Customer Relations can be reached at 626-599-3817 (Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. PT) or via email.
