Thunderstorms Erupt After Three-Day Heat Wave In New York

NEW YORK, NY – JUNE 22: A man walks through the rain during an intense afternoon thunderstorm on June 22, 2012 in New York City. The storm brought relief to two days of oppressively hot weather in New York and much of the East Coast where high heat warnings and air quality alerts had been issued from Quebec to Virginia. An 82-year-old in New York shut down traffic so he could share his hobby with the neighborhood.

According to this report, Joe Delfausse went viral on Tuesday after he set his telescope up in the middle of a street in Brooklyn. He did it just so random hipsters could take a look at Saturn.

This time a large group of people gathered in the middle of Ninth Avenue in Brooklyn to peer into his telescope. There's a video with around 30 people lined up. So yeah, space is still cool.

Most traffic just worked their way around the stargazers while others yelled at them to get out of the street.

Delfausse who is a former math and computer science teacher wasn't always interested in astronomy. He got into it back in 1995 after a stranger invited him to a stargazing event and he was hooked.

Delfausse also says he wants to do something meaningful with his life and he feels like sharing the stars and Saturn is the most meaningful thing he can think of.
