The 1975’s Matty Healy Covers Backstreet Boys At Life Is Beautiful Festival
Life Is Beautiful Music Fest 2023 just wrapped up celebrating their 10 birthday! DTLV has been home to the festival providing smiles, full bellies and new perspectives for festival attendees from all over the world. Saturday, September 23, was very packed and with a far-famed line-up we understand all of the excitement. Headliners included: Kendrick Lamar, The 1975, Madeon, Purple Disco Machine and Coco & Breezy.
The band we were most excited for was “The World’s Greatest Band”, known to be said by Matty Healy aka the lead singer of The 1975. The band opened the night with their antsy and jammy track, “Looking For Somebody (To Love)” (2022). It was the perfect 10:30 p.m. song to set the tone for the rest of the night. The band played an hour and ten minute set making every second count.

Furthermore, they played a few of their infamous tracks everyone knows and loves including, “The Sound” (2016), the fan-favorite “Somebody Else” (2016), “It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You)” (2018) and “Happiness” (2022).
Sadly, Matty didn’t sing “Chocolate” but the fans were surprised to hear the band sample the Backstreet Boys’ 1999 hit, “I Want It That Way.” Finishing the song Matty said, “Give it up for the Backstreet Boys.” Above all, though this wasn’t unique to just Vegas, it was still pleasantly enjoyable. Matty has sang this cover overseas in Perth, Australia and in Manila, Philippines. Though we only got a taste of what this song would sound like from lead singer, we may need to petition for a full cover.
Final The 1975 Song At Life Is Beautiful 2023
The night wasn’t over as The JBL stage lit up for one final song. The band left the audience with the perky yet motivating, “Give Yourself A Try” (2018) which is from their album, ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships.” Fans raised their hands in the air and sang the lyrics back realizing the set was soon to be over. We will have to keep listening to their ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’ album until they return to the 702.
