Amish Shunned After Emergency Alert Test Outed Their Secret Cell Phone Use
If you were one of the many who took to social media to complain about that annoying cell phone notification that went off on Wednesday afternoon, keep this in mind, at least the test didn’t get you shunned!
According to a report, that is exactly what happened to many people in the Amish community who were secretly using cell phones. Which, in case you were unaware, technology like that is banned.
Their beliefs are that “conveniences like electricity, television, automobiles and telephones” are considered to be a temptation that could cause vanity, create inequality, or lead the Amish away from their close-knit community.
A former Amish community member posted a TikTok telling the story of how he got a few of his friends back in the Amish country in trouble last week.
@yodertoter40 Several Amish men get shunned by the Amish church when the emergency alert system went off. Lol. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Maybe next time Eli can give his buds a heads up about the National Emergency Test so they can avoid the old shunning from the Amish elders next time. Rumor has it the Amish community were not the only ones affected by the national test. Many in prison also using illegal phones were ousted during the alert.
