Spring Cleaning: Must-Do Tasks For A Fresh Start

Spring has sprung and now it’s time to clean. Spring cleaning tasks aren’t really the most fun thing in the world but it can be satisfying. Personally, I enjoy a clean and organized home. Especially, since we're constantly entertaining guests in our home. If you don't know exactly where to start, I suggest one room at a time or break it down even further with one small task at a time. Soon, you'll be finished in no time. HGTV put out a list of must-do spring cleaning tasks. Some of their tips I found to be quite helpful. Take a look for yourself.

Let's Clean: Must-Do Spring Cleaning Tasks

They kicked off their list with the task of dusting the curtains around the house. They suggested a simple way to clean dirt and pet fur by using a sticky lint roller on the lower part of your drapes. For a deeper clean, they suggest taking them down, removing hooks, and running them through an air-fluff cycle in the dryer with a damp towel for 15 minutes (the towel will attract the dust). Re-hang them immediately.

Dusting goes for blinds too. This is actually something that should be done regularly. Just grab a microfiber cloth and wipe down blade by blade.

This is something I didn’t think to do until I read their list. Washing out your trash cans. To really clean garbage cans, spray them with a hose and dump out the water. They suggest spraying the inside with a disinfectant spray, scrubbing with a handled brush, and rinse. Leave them upside down to dry.

Chipping paint and cracks around the house is common during the winter, especially with colder temperatures. They suggest taking the time to investigate doors, windows, and drafts, and sealing open areas.

This task may seem a bit nitpicky but after taking a look inside my own faucet, they may be on to something. They said to remove all faucet handles and clean their insides to keep the screws from corroding. If you encounter rust, use a rust remover to tackle it.

Now is the perfect time to show some love to your bathroom fans. How often do you clean those? They suggest cleaning your bathroom fans once a year. "Take the cover off, wash it in soapy water, and clean dirt off the fan blades with a toothbrush," they said. Obviously, you want to be sure the power is off when you do this.
