Flea is a passionate man, and apparently, one of his passions happens to be Denny's. Yes...that Denny's.

The world found out about the bassist's love for the diner chain when he appeared on Everybody's in LA, the limited live Netflix series hosted by comedian John Mulaney. During an episode, Mulaney did a bit where he challenged two audience members to try and find Flea in Los Angeles. Why? According to Mulaney, "No one embodies the freak flag spirit of Los Angeles more than Flea, the bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers."

What Did Flea Say About Denny's?

Obviously, Flea was in the wings and ready to appear on Everybody's In LA. However, Flea did give a speech clarifying, "I was never lost. I was at Denny's."

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer then went on a joyous rant about the wonder that is Denny's and exclaimed, "LA is Denny's, motherf---er!" He called the diner chain "a magical place" and "a sanctuary in this town."

Flea continued, "It's a microcosm of LA. It transcends all cultural and ethnic and economic boundaries. It's a beautiful place. You can find everybody in Denny's. I was just there. There are all these beautiful Latino kids just coming from their prom, coming from a quinceanera. It's a great place."

He added, "You could go there at midnight. People bring their babies there at midnight, and you might say, 'Well, they better take that baby home.' You don't know what they're doing! You don't know why that baby's there. They might be locked out of their apartment. I know I'm locked out of mine!"

Flea concludes, "I really want to say is: God bless Denny's. God bless all those street musicians out there; put some money in their hat. And God bless this beautiful, filthy, glorious, sprawling city of Los Angeles.

How Did Denny's Respond to Flea?

Well, when you get a rave review like that, it's understandable that Denny's has been reveling in it. Denny's has been showing love to Flea on X and Instagram. Here's a post of Flea posing at a Denny's with the caption, "I was never lost. I was at Denny's."

Over on X, Denny's shared Flea's speech and added, "When Flea speaks, you listen."

They also called Flea's speech, "Your favorite speech's favorite speech."

So, what did we learn today? Honestly...find someone who appreciates you as much as Flea appreciates Denny's.

For more than three decades, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have twisted rock, funk, punk and soul into new, surprising, usually fun and sometimes sad jams.

Singer Anthony Kiedis and bassist Flea have kept the band together and have stayed relevant far longer than most of their peers or their idols. We took a deep dive into the hits and some album tracks to come up with this list of their 42 greatest songs.

We included every era, not to be fair, but because every lineup had at least a few classics. The early lineup of Anthony, Flea, guitarist Hillel Slovak and drummer Jack Irons is some people's favorite. Anthony, Flea, drummer Chad Smith and guitarist John Frusicante created their most successful albums and songs. But credit is also due to former guitarists Jack Sherman, Dave Navarro and Josh Klinghoffer, and ex-drummer Cliff Martinez.

When Johm Frusciante rejoined the band, they showed that the most successful lineup still had something to say (and a lot of it: they released two double albums in a year). Take a look through our countdown of their 42 best songs (and yes, the list surely could have been much longer).
