The prices of groceries are getting out of hand in Nevada.

Nonetheless, as high as groceries are all over the country, Nevada has the second highest cost for groceries. But, why?
Well according to 8 News Now, it's because we are in the desert. We aren't this incredible agricultural mecca growing our food. We have to pay the costs of bringing the meat, spinach and oranges into our state. And while that makes sense then why is California ranked #1 when it comes to food costs? I mean, they have tons of agricultural land and tons of farms. So, what gives? The produce is getting dispersed throughout its own state.
Well according to CBS, the overall cost of living in California has created an after shock of rising food costs.

But, what about us in Nevada? What do we do? We buckle down and find the best and cheapest groceries we can. So, here’s how I roll when it comes to grocery shopping.
Cardenas Market. I'm a fan of shopping at local Latin grocery stores. They usually have amazing deli items and cold bar items like ceviche at reasonable prices. Meat is hit and miss, but their produce department is usually a score. And they have the best homemade salsa. Along with that, for this lady, she found some killer deals on alcohol too.
Walmart is another great option. This use to be a great place when ii came to value it, but this isn't necessarily thee situation anymore. However, they did just launch a new bettergoods brand designed to appeal to younger shoppers at “affordable” prices.
That's all good and dandy, but let me tell you where you can find a real deal: Winco.
I can tell you from personal experience this place is a solid 15% on average cheaper than anywhere else. And you can buy food like rice, beans and pasta in bulk. But to give you an example of a price difference, a bag of basic Lays potato chips is priced at just under $4. However, the WinCo brand is priced $1.89. I’m not touting their produce as the best, but overall, their prices are very wallet-friendly.
