Interstate 15 Closure In July And August In Las Vegas
As if there wasn’t enough going on on the I-15. The Tropicana area is a mess, there’s always an accident near Sahara, now an Interstate 15 closure that will have drivers seeing red.
The closures, planned for July and August, are for repaving the roadway. Unfortunately that can’t be done using magic or witchcraft.
Interstate 15 Closure To Affect Drivers For Days
Gear up because this one is going to be a doozy.
Beginning Friday, July 26th at 9pm, there will be a northbound Interstate 15 closure between Warm Springs Road and Flamingo Road. Now stick with us, because it gets a bit confusing.
Sunday, July 28th at 5am, onramps to access between Russell Road and Flamingo Road will reopen. But the remainder of the road will open to drivers on Monday, July 29th at 5am.
Then put that thing down, flip it and reverse it on Friday, August 2nd at 9pm, when there will be a southbound Interstate 15 closure between Flamingo Road and Warm Springs Road. In that case there will be no early ramp opening and the road will reopen to the public on Monday, August 5th at 5am.
The Nevada Department of Transportation tries to explain the Interstate 15 closure in a video and… we are still overwhelmed.
NDOT is promising a smoother ride after the repaving project is finished and is encouraging drivers to use Waze to get around and find an alternate route. We suggest staying inside and not leaving for two weekends, but that is just us.
This Isn’t The First Interstate 15 Closure In Recent Memory
It seems like the Nevada Department Of Transportation really loves shutting the I-15 down. You may remember not one but two complete Interstate 15 closure events as part of the “Dropicana” project, the most recent of which took place earlier this year.
Here’s hoping this is the last bit of pain before the I-15 returns to the highly trafficked but open highway we fondly remember it to be.
