Billie Joe Armstrong: Hear His Cover on Jesse Malin Tribute LP
Billie Joe Armstrong is part of an all-star lineup featured on Silver Patron Saints: The Songs of Jesse Malin. The album is part tribute and benefit album to Malin, the legendary New York musician who suffered a spinal stroke in March 2023 that resulted in the paralysis of his legs.
Armstrong’s contribution to the album is a cover of “Black Haired Girl,” which can be heard below. The track was first released on Malin’s 2007 album Glitter in the Gutter.
The Green Day frontman said in a statement, “Jesse is a dear friend to me. I love his songwriting. He is all heart…His passion is endless. We send each other YouTube videos (mostly old Ramones clips and New York Dolls). Every time I’m in New York, he goes out of his way to make me, my friends and my family feel at home. He’s always down for a laugh or a shoulder to cry on. Jesse, we love you, and we’d do anything for you.”
