Las Vegas Woman Allegedly Steals Casket With A Body Inside
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas and what goes into a casket should also stay in there. A woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing a casket from a Las Vegas Funeral home and dumping the remains that were inside, per KSNV. That woman has since been identified as Patricia Sierra. You can see her mugshot provided by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department below.
According to KSNV, officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department were called on a report of a suspicious person outside of the funeral home on Charleston Boulevard. When they arrived, they found an open casket on a cart, a body left in the landscaping, and an open door with broken glass on the side of the funeral home, per KSNV. Law enforcement reviewed surveillance video and saw a woman break the front window to unlock the door to gain entry before walking into the viewing room and taking the casket out and removing the remains.
Days later, officers spotted the woman believed to be seen in the video at a convenience store in the area, and she was identified as Patricia Sierra, per KSNV. Sierra claimed not to remember the incident but was reportedly apologetic about it, admitting that she drank six beers beforehand. She was able to confirm that she was the individual seen in the surveillance video, per KSNV. She is currently being held at Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of grand larceny, burglary of a business, and disturbing human remains.
No word on what the family of the victim had to say in the matter. Hopefully, Sierra gets the help she needs. It sounds like something you would have seen on CSI: Las Vegas but, unfortunately, this is all too real. Sierra is expected in court for a preliminary hearing on September 18th.
