Three Days Grace Find Their Way Home
Back in the 1990’s, Adam Gontier, Brad Walst and Neil Sanderson went to high school together. They formed a band, but it bit the dust. Not to be one to give up, a few years later, the boys reconvened and formed Three Days Grace. The band hit big in 2002 with “I Hate Everything About You,” and never looked back.
Well, this was a dream until Adam left the band in 2013. So, they just decided to look forward, and they decided to look within their own family. Brad Walst's brother took over singing duties. And it was a risk. But it paid off. I mean Matt was no slouch, He was the singer of "My Darkest Days," who had some success with "Porn Star Dancing."
But let's face it, Adam Gontier was a very important part of the band, and while they had success without Adam, it just wasn't the same. Sure, they had some good songs with some hits like “I Am Machine."
But, they never truly caught lightning in a bottle like they did when Adam was in the band.
And conversely, Adam -- who started Saint Asonia -- had some mild success. But, it was nothing like when Three Days Grace put out my favorite song by the band, “Chalk Outline.”
So when the band posted on their Instagram story with a message from Adam to Matt that they were on their way to the studio, the rock world rejoiced.
And now it's official. Three Days Grace is back and stronger than ever. I -- for one -- am looking very much to what's next for the boys from Canada.
Papa Roach Meet-And-Greet Photos
Jacoby Shaddix and Jerry Horton of Papa Roach gave a stellar performance at Ghostbar at Palms on Thursday night.
The duo gave a stripped-down performance of some of their best hits like "Last Resort," "Leave a Light On," and "Scars."
The private performance is part of our Xtreme Acoustic Sessions. Thank you to Ghostbar for hosting our event. The Las Vegas Strip was beautiful, glimmering behind the unplugged band. People danced and sang their hearts out.
Jacoby Shaddix Talks About Carrie Underwood Collaboration
One of the best moments was when Jacoby talked about how his collaboration with Carrie Underwood happened. After hearing that she was a fan, Jacoby invited her to a show. Then, he and his wife went to see Carrie's residency right here in Vegas. This is when rumblings of the collaboration started to happen.
After a few interactions, the collaboration finally happened. They also teamed up to bring awareness to suicide prevention month, which is a main theme in the song "Leave a Light On."
Along with the Carrie collaboration, he also talked about pulling yourself from dark moments. He talked about writing lyrics on a napkin during an airplane ride back home. These little anecdotes are what make these acoustic performances so special.
It was powerful to hear Shaddix talk about sobriety and the start of his road to rockstardom. He even told the audience about a van the band used to travel in. The van was a run-down vehicle that would constantly break down. Shaddix said that one time, he tried to "gas and dash." This was during the days when you could fill up your tank before paying.
Well, when Shaddix tried to race off, the van ended up breaking down even before leaving the gas station. He's not proud of it now, but it truly shows that everybody has their ups and downs in life.
Thank you to Jacoby Shaddix and Jerry Horton of Papa Roach for giving us a stellar night. Also thank you once again to Ghostbar at Palms for being the best hosts and having an amazing bar staff!
