Jacoby Shaddix and Jerry Horton of Papa Roach gave a stellar performance at Ghostbar at Palms on Thursday night.
The duo gave a stripped-down performance of some of their best hits like “Last Resort,” “Leave a Light On,” and “Scars.”
The private performance is part of our Xtreme Acoustic Sessions. Thank you to Ghostbar for hosting our event. The Las Vegas Strip was beautiful, glimmering behind the unplugged band. People danced and sang their hearts out.
Jacoby Shaddix Talks About Carrie Underwood Collaboration
One of the best moments was when Jacoby talked about how his collaboration with Carrie Underwood happened. After hearing that she was a fan, Jacoby invited her to a show. Then, he and his wife went to see Carrie’s residency right here in Vegas. This is when rumblings of the collaboration started to happen.
After a few interactions, the collaboration finally happened. They also teamed up to bring awareness to suicide prevention month, which is a main theme in the song “Leave a Light On.”

Along with the Carrie collaboration, he also talked about pulling yourself from dark moments. He talked about writing lyrics on a napkin during an airplane ride back home. These little anecdotes are what make these acoustic performances so special.
It was powerful to hear Shaddix talk about sobriety and the start of his road to rockstardom. He even told the audience about a van the band used to travel in. The van was a run-down vehicle that would constantly break down. Shaddix said that one time, he tried to “gas and dash.” This was during the days when you could fill up your tank before paying.
Well, when Shaddix tried to race off, the van ended up breaking down even before leaving the gas station. He’s not proud of it now, but it truly shows that everybody has their ups and downs in life.
