Video games have seen a drastic rise in worldwide popularity in the last decade. Here in Vegas, we've even got tons of arcades, VR spaces and video game lounges all across the city. Just from 2015 to 2024, the number of gamers has increased from 2.03 billion to 3.32 billion, according to explodingtopics.com. With the world's population at 8.1B, as of Feb. 2024, almost half the population on Earth are gamers to some extent. And that number is only expected to rise as time goes on.

The Reason To Game

Everyone has their own motivations to game. One main reason is the entertainment value, because everyone could use some more fun. Another is escapism, for the people that don't want to think about their day-to-day lives, but instead delve into other worlds. Or lastly, the adrenaline pumping thrill of competition. They're gamers with the drive to prove their superiority over the competition.

Game City

Las Vegas is well known for its gambling when it comes to gaming. In tv shows and movies, you can always see the plethora of slot machines in all of our casinos. But our city is surprisingly vast when it comes to its selection of gaming spaces. No matter what part of town you're in, you can always find a place to play video games a short drive away.

These locations host weekly events for people to attend and enjoy themselves. They help create meaningful and close-knit communities that can last a lifetime. Bonds created through victory, defeat, frustration, and joy tend to leave long lasting impressions. Those connections have become a staple here in Sin City and will continue to grow.

With all these gamers in town, there must be a game that stands above the rest. The following list was created due to research conducted by experts at CSGOLuck, which analyzed the average searches on Google by volume. They used terms searched for each respected game such as "buy x" and "play x". Each game was then ranked by their total average monthly searches. Here are the results:

5. Hogwarts Legacy (Search Volume - 14,970)

Even though Hogwarts Legacy was surrounded by tons of drama, the game was a critical success among Harry Potter fans. 22 million witches and wizards bought the game by the end of 2023 and played out their childhood dreams of being a student at Hogwarts.

4. Minecraft (Search Volume - 20,916)

Truly a game that has stood the test of time, Minecraft is still a powerhouse of a game today. First being released to the public in 2009, it was immediately met with praise and now, almost two decades later, the game still has a massive playerbase. From toddlers to seniors, it's truly loved by those of all ages.

3. Fortnite (Search Volume - 23,,236)

Initially beginning as a tower-defense/builder game called Fortnite: Save the World, Fortnite exploded into the spotlight after following in the footsteps of the, at the time, new genre of battle royales in 2017. Fortnite: Battle Royale became a household name across the globe and is still standing strong to this day. They've even begun expanding their reach into even more genres with LEGO Fortnite (a survival game), Rocket Racing (a racing game), and Fortnite Festival (a Guitar Hero-esque game).

2. The Last Of Us (Search Volume - 24,033)

With the increase of attention due to The Last Of Us show on HBO, the game received quite a gain in searches. Originally released in 2013 and selling over 17 copies, the game's sequel and tv show have given the game quite the boost in well-earned interest.

1. Roblox (Search Volume - 125,653)

As a game to create all games. Roblox hits the top of the list by a massive margin due to it's popularity with the youth of Nevada. This sandbox playground of a game was released in 2006 and has over 71 million daily active users, according to statista.com, a statistics website. In Roblox, people have the freedom to create whatever games they can think of within the game engine and share it with the world. This level of freedom has become immensely popular and Nevadans seem to echo that fact.
