Donald Trump Escorted Off Stage After Gunshot Noise At Rally Sparks Panic
Former President Donald Trump is being assessed at a medical facility after alleged gunshot-sounding noises were heard at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, according to The Guardian.
Donald Trump was giving a speech around 6 p.m. at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, ABC reports. A few moments into his speeches, a video recording captured a loud noise resembling “gunshots” being heard throughout the crowd. Trump then kneels toward the ground, clutching his ear. This is when Secret Service agents rushed to Trump’s aid.
“The former president ducked quickly after the noises began, with the sound coming from the bleachers to the left of where he was standing at a lectern,” The New York Times reported. “The noises came in two groups, and smoke rose from that section of the bleachers.”
Unclear Loud Noises, Donald Trump Marked As ‘Fine’
Officials have not given further details about the incident. It’s unclear what the loud noises exactly were. But USA Today reports that reporters were removed from the rally site and called it an active crime scene.
According to further reporting by The Guardian, while being escorted by agents, Trump pumped his fist with blood on the side of his face.
USA Today said President Joe Biden was leaving church when the Trump incident happened.
“President Joe Biden, who is in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, said, “No, when asked by reporters as he left church if he had been briefed by about the shooting at the Trump rally,” USA Today reports.
