Many of our incredible teachers, the unsung heroes of education, find themselves in a bind when it comes to school supplies. It's astonishing to think that some of these dedicated educators are actually dipping into their own pockets to provide the very basics for their classrooms.

According to the National Education Association, over 90% of teachers spend their own money on classroom supplies, often exceeding $500. To support them, Target is offering a special one-time 20% discount on their entire purchase, both in-store and online.

Target Circle

This year, the teacher appreciation event will be from July 16 to August 26. Eligible participants include K-12 teachers, homeschool teachers, daycare center teachers, early childhood learning center teachers, university or college professors, and vocational/trade/technical schoolteachers with valid identification, as announced by the retailer. For this discount, eligible teachers must be signed up for Target Circle and present a valid school ID.

Students get back-to-school deals too.

College students can also enjoy the same one-time, 20% discount on their entire in-store and online purchase by signing up for Target Circle and presenting a valid student ID.

Additionally, Target Circle members can take advantage of storewide deals during Target Circle Week, which runs from July 9 to July 15.

Walmart to Roll out Deals

On the other hand, Walmart's back-to-school campaign focuses on offering essential school supplies at the same prices as last year. Walmart said that customers can purchase a bundle of the 14 most popular school supplies, including notebooks, crayons, and pencil boxes, for $12.94, both online and in-store.

As a new feature this year, Walmart is introducing an online classroom registry where teachers can share their classroom wish lists. Interested individuals can find these registries by searching Walmart's registry page using the teacher's last name and state.
