The metal community is vast and surprisingly diverse. If you want proof, meet Pretty Runaway, a Canadian racehorse that loves listening to heavy metal.
The CBC did a brief story on the horse, who is based in Burnt River, Ontario. Groom Autumn Purdy explained to the outlet, "So, we played her a bunch of different music. I looked at my manager, and I said, 'Do you see what she's doing?'"
What Pretty Runaway was doing was headbanging like crazy. The proof is in the video below, which is so cool and cute!
Purdy then shared, "We've had a super great reaction to bands like Slipknot, Pantera and even some Ozzy Osbourne. So, like super heavy bass, lots of guitar, lots of rhythm. She will literally headbang to the music. She's on beat almost every time."
This discovery led to a unique test where Purdy and her manager played different music for Pretty Runaway. She said, "We picked a common modern country song versus a pretty well-known Pantera song, and we did a test to see which one she would like better."
Prudy continued, "We played the country, and she physically turned her butt to me and didn't have a care in the world. At her hay, carried on. Played some Pantera. Turned right around. Instant headbang."
It's unfortunate that horses have hooves, because we bet Pretty Runaway would throw horns like crazy!
July 1 is Canada Day. From hockey to SCTV to delicious maple syrup, Canada has provided the world with a number of treasures, including some of the greatest/best-selling musicians of all time.
In honor of Canada Day, we lift a Molson/cup of Tim Horton's coffee to some of the country's greatest musical exports.
