Las Vegas High School On Lockdown, Person With Gun Reported
UPDATE: Las Vegas Metro Police Department has detained a person in this incident. There will be a controlled, staggered release of students at Shadow Ridge High School once a thorough safety screening is completed.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department just reported on Wednesday morning a potentially dangerous situation near a local high school.
Shadow Ridge High School is on a lockdown due to reports of a person with a gun nearby. Police are requesting that people stay away from the area.
An official statement obtained by LVMPD said “LVMPD and CCSPD are working a call regarding a person with a gun near Shadow Ridge High School. The school is in a hard lockdown. No injuries are reported at this time. Please avoid the area and watch for responding emergency vehicles.”
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported the incident on their Twitter page. At 10:45am, they indicated they were working with the Clark County School District Police Department to investigate the claim.

About fifteen minutes later, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department tweeted a follow up.
At 11:03am, LVMPD tweeted that they were inside the Shadow Ridge High school with the Clark County School District Police Department and that all seemed okay. They stressed the situation was NOT an active shooter one. There were also no injuries reported.

Principal Kannon of Shadow Ridge High School sent out a message to parents of their students. Kannon confirmed the school was on lockdown due to a “rumored threat” that had not been confirmed, news3lv.com reported.
The local police have apprehended a suspect.
At 11:29 am, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department tweeted that they had apprehended an individual regarding the situation. Furthermore they were letting students go intermittently. A safety screening will be completed for each student prior to release.

Shadow Ridge High School is located at 5050 Brent Lane in the northernmost part of Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is still asking people to avoid the area.
