Study Names Obscure Nevada Town As ‘Most Expensive’ In US
A major media publication recently published a list of the “most expensive towns” in the United States, and one city in Nevada made the list. It’s not Las Vegas and in fact, it’s not even near Vegas.
The New York Times published a list of the most expensive towns in the United States. The New York Times states that the study focused on “towns,” that only have a population of 10,000-to-50,000 people. The study was quite shocking because many of these “small” towns were as expensive as major coastal cities.
What Town Made #1 On The List?
The most expensive town in the United States is Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts. The median home value is nearly $1 million — $998,100, according to the study. This is almost as expensive as homes in San Francisco.
The next “most expensive” spots in the United States were Jackson, Wyoming, and Breckenridge, Colorado.
After that, Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Hailey, Idaho took the next spots for most expensive towns.
Lending Tree conducted the study. The study essentially found that the towns with the most expensive real estate are Vineyard Haven, Jackson and Breckenridge. Another shocking facet of the study was the income-to-home value ratio.
“At $93,225, $102,435 and $100,611, median household incomes are higher in Vineyard Haven, Jackson and Breckenridge than in most other areas — but not high enough to offset high home values,” the study states.
Where Is Nevada On List Of “Most Expensive” Towns In America?
Nevada made the top 10 on this list. In fact, Nevada made the sixth spot. The sixth most expensive town in the United States is Gardnerville Ranchos, Nevada.
Gardnerville Ranchos is about six hours away from Las Vegas, and it’s located in
Douglas County. It’s about an hour south of Reno. According to the study, the median home value is $529,600. However, Realtor.com lists the median home price as even higher — $649,950.
Gardnerville Ranchos looks like a stunning town to live in. There are many outdoor activities and a few parks scattered throughout the town. Nevada truly has a rainbow array of different communities, which is another reason why our state is so great.
