Las Vegas has a famed past for being a city welcoming all walks of life. The brightly lit desert has open arms to people of all races, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. Though the concrete desert is expanding, the city still witnesses people of all kinds. According to Statstica.com, roughly 32 million tourists flocked to Vegas in 2021. This magical place has been referenced as the “Adult Disneyland” and for many this coined phrase may be true.
Despite who you are, Vegas likes to do things big. The city has created iconic attractions including: The second tallest observation wheel, High Roller; the second biggest water show, The Fountains of Bellagio; The fifth tallest building in the US, The STRAT.
With everything being a production, not everything is so big in the city. There is an LGBTQIA+ scene in Vegas and it’s quaint yet fun. With the month of June arriving right on schedule it’s time to celebrate Pride Month! Pride Month lasts the whole month of June where LGBT History Month is celebrated in October. Both are commonly mixed up as Las Vegas Pride also doesn’t happen until early October.
Pride is about accepting our neighbors for who they are and who they love. Pride is about listening to those who voices may not be as loud as our own. Pride is about loving one another and showing up for them when things are not okay. Pride is about being yourself to the fullest extent.
The fruit loop in Las Vegas showcases many LGBTQIA+ places that accept anyone and everyone. We compiled a list of restaurants and PRIDE-themed events that are showing their support for the LGBTQIA+. Now some of these places may have seasonal item for PRIDE but still welcome our LGBTQIA+ brothers and sisters year round. We want to align ourselves with businesses who are not subjectively supporting the LGBTQIA+ because of Pride Month but because they’re an actual ally.
Ally-ship has never been more important in our country as we still have a long way to go for total acceptance in our society.
