The former child star was then placed on psychiatric hold after she waved a car down. She told the driver she was coming down from a psychotic episode. Bynes, 36, called 911 on herself. She was evaluated by a mental health team at a nearby police station in Los Angeles.
The Hairspray actress was placed on a 5150 psych hold, which allows an adult who is experiencing a mental health crisis to be involuntarily detained for a 72-hour psychiatric hospitalization due to the threat of harm to self, others, or being gravely disabled. Despite Bynes being in a potentially dangerous area to have a psychotic episode, the actress wasn’t physically hurt.
Sightings of Amanda on Hollywood Blvd.
Now, new information has come to light leading up to her emergency medical supervision on Sunday (March 19). A few days prior, a TikToker shared a video on St. Patrick's Day walking the streets of Hollywood, arm in arm with Amanda. The viral ten-second clip received over 7 million views. In it, the TikToker explained, "I saw my girl walking and I had to say what's up?" She captioned the post: "Happy shes getting the help she needs. she was sweet, gave her some money and talked. sometime ppl just sb to talk to."
In the comments section, fans of Bynes offered their support. One person commented, "my heart goes out to her. no judgment just love." Another said, "Man.. It still breaks me how they destroyed Amanda Bynes, the sweetest girl ever."
The next day, an eyewitness told ET, "Amanda was wandering alone on Hollywood Blvd. at around 1 am on Saturday. No one really recognized her or noticed her. She was walking tensely and by herself. A woman started walking with her and tried to help her. Amanda asked the woman to hold her." The source said that "Amanda seemed to be in a loving, wholesome mood."
However, she "seemed as though she was out of it." Bynes apparently "asked to be dropped off at her friend’s place in Beverly Hills." When the woman went to drop her off, Amanda’s friend didn't answer the door. Since the actress didn't want to go home, noting that her fiancé Paul Michael kicked her out, she asked to be "dropped back off on Hollywood Blvd., and the woman obliged."
Today (March 22) marks exactly one year since Amanda's conservatorship was terminated. At this time, sources close to Amanda told gossip website TMZ that her parents don't plan to bring the conservatorship back into play.
