Sometimes a hotel guest requests things that are out of the ordinary. Things that go beyond the usual offerings provided by the hotel. These requests can range from quirky and amusing to downright bizarre, showing a guest's unique preferences or creative imagination.

Hotels.com released its first-ever Room Service Report, including some of the most unusual room service requests. The survey conducted for the report reached out to hotel partners from 473 establishments across various countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, all of which provide in-room dining services.

Most unusual room service requests.

The report highlighted several peculiar room service requests that stood out, such as a guest asking for diet water, melted ice cream, a blowfish and even a raw fish caught by a traveler who wanted it cooked to order. One intriguing item on the list is cockle popcorn. This unconventional treat features small shellfish coated with a blend of vinegar, chili, and salt, then baked to achieve crispiness.

Hotels with the most out-of-the-ordinary room service experience.

The report highlighted hotels with noteworthy experiences when it comes to room service requests. According to the report, the Plaza Hotel In New York has frequent requests for the “Home Alone sundae,” featuring 16 scoops of ice cream and layers of toppings for $300. Meanwhile, the Milestone Hotel in London takes the concept of extraordinary requests to new heights. Guests can actually arrange for an exclusive in-room concert by the esteemed Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, delivering a world-class musical performance right within the comfort of their own accommodations.
