Over the last few weeks, you haven’t been able to go on social media or turn on the TV without hearing about Tayvis or Traylor. Of course I’m talking about the budding romance between pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce. As if you didn’t know. She has been to the last two KC games. The first at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, and then this past Sunday at MetLife in New York for Sunday Night Football.
The NFL has been all over this capitalizing on what is sure to make them hella cash. This past Sunday night game had an astounding 27 million viewers. The most viewed Sunday show since the Super Bowl and the majority of that new viewership was women. Travis Kelce jerseys are selling at an exponential rate. After Taylor’s first appearance they spiked 400%. And let us not forget that ticket sales to see the Chiefs in action has also sky-rocketed meaning more money for the NFL.
The truth is, the NFL has annoyed their main fanbase. After Sunday’s game, many fans expressed their frustration with the amount of coverage given to Taylor Swift. There were lots of comments about how we were actually seeing more Taylor highlights than football highlights. At one point the NFL social media accounts had altered their bios and photos to a Taylor Swift theme. The NFL TikTok account has no shortage of Taylor content with at least 15 videos since this “romance” began. So many people complained that the league actually had to release a statement saying they would tone down the Taylor coverage.
Here’s where the conspiracy comes in. We all know there’s plenty of jokes about the “NFL Script.” The league is in the business of making money. If anyone says that’s not their top priority, they’re delusional. Now, could these two star-crossed lovers have a genuine love connection? Sure. Is it true that Travis went to a Taylor Swift show and tried to give her his number on a friendship bracelet? Probably. Did the NFL hear about that and immediately think of how they can use this for profit? 100%. I’m not saying this romance is fake, but I am saying that the NFL has made a lot of dough since this all happened. People who have never been interested in football are suddenly watching games and buying merch.
We can’t forget that Travis Kelce was once a reality TV star so he’s no stranger to the limelight. Did the NFL look at these 2 young, attractive superstars and say, “here’s a goldmine?” I think they did. Honestly, who can blame them?

Who Will Play The Super Bowl Halftime Show In 2025?
The Super Bowl is not only the biggest event every year in the sporting world, but the Halftime Show is also the biggest entertainment event. Even though the Halftime show is under 15 minutes, it is talked about months in advance. And if the performance is successful, it’ll be talked about for years afterward. Only the biggest names in music have had the honor to grace the Super Bowl stage: Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Aerosmith, *NSYNC, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the Who, Prince, the Black Eyed Peas, Madonna, Beyonce, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and The Weeknd, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and 50 Cent.
Last year’s Super Bowl LVII show took place in Glendale, Arizona’s State Farm Stadium, and featured Rihanna. Fans who were hotly anticipating new music were given another surprise by the “Diamonds” singer. Debuting her pregnant belly, the artist’s performance wasn’t as electrifying as anticipated due to her inability to do any crazy choreography. The show’s elevated stages and backup dancers tried to compensate for that. As with any pop artist, people online were criticizing her choice of wardrobe and debated on whether or not she was pregnant, as she waited until after the show to confirm it. Though this wasn’t the comeback we wanted from Rihanna, it was still great to watch her perform for the first time in years.
For Super Bowl 2024, it has been announced that R&B superstar Usher will be heading the halftime show. Back in April, he told Access Hollywood that he “would be a fool to say no” to headline the Super Bowl, a “bucket list” dream of his. Usher has sold over 23 million albums and 38 million digital songs in the United States. With over 80 million records sold worldwide, the “There Goes My Baby” singer is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, and we cannot wait for his performance. But it’s never too early to discuss who might take the stage for Super Bowl LIX. Check out our top predictions below.
Jade was born and raised in Detroit Rock City and grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, The Who, Tom Petty, etc. In high school she tried multiple different styles from cheerleader to goth but couldn’t do gymnastics and couldn’t get her eyeliner dark enough. She settled on jeans and a t-shirt, playing sports and making normal situations overly awkward. When she’s not making bad jokes on the radio you can find her shanking golf balls into the woods on the golf course and drinking beers at the bar. She has a strict two shot limit when it comes to tequila. Jade enjoys writing and talking about everything happening in Detroit Rock City, our Detroit sports teams, golf, and her fear of robots.
