Nevada Fire Fighters Giving Holiday Magic To Children In Need
First responders make a life and a living by helping others in their community. For our Las Vegas firefighters, that’s a 24 hour a day job. And even more so at Christmastime.
The Firefighters of Southern Nevada’s Burn Foundation is a Las Vegas based nonprofit organization. Consisting of active fire department personnel, the organization’s primary mission is to provide support to victims of fires and other catastrophic events. As active firefighters, these compassionate men and women see the physical and emotional toll it takes on someone when a fire destroys their lives and homes.
Determined to help in their recovery journey, the Burn Foundation has many programs for these individuals. The funds the organization raises help recovering children attend burn camps and school reintegration programs. And provide counseling to children in need after surviving a fire or other catastrophe.
But during the holidays, these local heroes do even more for the community.
The Burn Foundation is holding their annual Fill The Fire Truck toy drive to help children in need in Southern Nevada. The event began on Friday, December 1 and will go through Monday, December 18. For the second year in a row, the event is at the Uncommons mixed-use community. Which is located at the 215 Beltway and Durango Drive.
During the event, community members can bring new, unwrapped toys to the Uncommons. And drop them in the toy collection boxes located in various places around the community. Including at The Quad, The Sundry, and inside the BDO and Morgan Stanley office buildings. The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation will then pick up all donated items on December 19 and distribute them to children in need.
