Bill Murray is Reportedly Dating Kelis
Here’s a couple you couldn’t see coming from a mile away. Bill Murray, 72, is reportedly dating singer-songwriter Kelis, 43, who is best known for her 2003 hit, “Milkshake.” Per the US Sun, the Lost In Translation actor has been attending several of her recent concerts. Just this past weekend, Murray was watching Kelis from the side stage during her London show, and they posed for a picture backstage together looking cozy.
Sources tell the publication that the pair were also together at the same hotel. The unlikely couple have been “getting close for a while” after they first met in the US. They have reportedly bonded over the deaths of their loved ones. Kelis’s second husband, Mike Mora, died of stomach cancer in March last year. Meanwhile, Bill’s estranged wife, costume designer Jennifer Butler, passed away in 2021.

A friend says of the pair, “They’ve met up in the States before, which got people in the industry talking, and now are meeting up in London while they’re both here. They’ve clearly hit it off.” Murray is currently in London filming Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2. The insider adds, “But they’ve also both shared relatively recent bereavements and have that common bond between them. Whatever it is that has brought them together, and however unlikely it seems, they are both single and are having fun despite the fairly big age gap.”
Troubled Past
Murray’s late wife accused the actor of domestic abuse and sex, marijuana and alcohol addictions — as well as infidelity — during their marriage. Though she filed for divorce in 2008, the pair remained in touch before her death in 2021. As for Kelis’ first marriage to Nas, the Harlem native accused him of physically and mentally abusing her throughout their five-year marriage. She filed for divorce in 2009 while she was seven months pregnant with their son.
Kelis later explained to The Hollywood Unlocked, “It was really dark. There was a lot of drinking. There was a lot of physical and mental abuse. And it just got to the point where if I wasn’t pregnant, I might have stayed with him. Because I really did love him, and we were married.”
Bill has six children from previous relationships. He shares sons, Homer, 41, and Luke, 38, with his first wife, Margaret Kelly, whom he was married to from 1981 to 1996. With Butler, he shares sons Caleb, 30, Jackson, 27, Cooper, 26, and Lincoln, 19. Kelis shares son Knight Jones, 13, with her first husband Nas. She and her late husband Mora share son Shepard, 7, and daughter Galilee, 2.
