Finn The Bat Dog For Las Vegas Avaitors Passes Away

Celeb chef Giada De Laurentiis and Finn the bat dog were snapped together during an Aviators game.

Finn the bat dog, known for retrieving bats at Las Vegas Aviators games and stealing hearts all over Sin City, has passed away. According to the KTNV.com, Finn the bat dog passed away after battling cancer.

The Aviators made a statement on X this past Monday “To Finn, thank you for being our good boy. Thank you for all the memories, the smiles, and for being there through every inning. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will always live on at the ballpark,”

Finn The Bat Dog Was More Than Just A Dog

Finn the bat dog wasn’t just a bat-retrieving canine. He was a good-luck charm. He was a good boy. And for so many on the team and in the city of Las Vegas, Finn was family.

Finn the bat dog began his career more than five years ago when the Aviators were still called the Las Vegas 51’s. The team was still playing at Cashman Field and from day one, Finn won everyone’s hearts fast.

Then there was the time that an umpire made the mistake of doing Finn’s job for him. When the player dropped the bat, Finn the bat dog ran out to do his job, the umpire threw the bat towards the dugout. As heard in this video, the crowd wasn’t happy, at all.

Finn the bat dog was quarantined just like everyone else during the pandemic. As you may remember, no fans at games in 2020, and that meant no Finn. But after a long hiatus, Finn returned and everything was right with the world once again.

But, all good things come to an end. Finn the Bat Dog retired in April of 2024. It was the end of an era for Aviators baseball. And sadly, just a few months later, Finn crossed the rainbow bridge.

And as a dog lover myself, the news of his passing is incredibly sad. Like I’m crying as I type this. That’s how much Finn impacted the city, and how much he was loved. RIP to a good bye.
