Las Vegas’ New Year’s Eve Road Closures
Let’s get ready to party! Officials expect over 400,000 visitors to converge on the Las Vegas Strip and Downtown’s Fremont Street Experience to ring in 2023, and you can expect road closures in advance of the giant parties.
The Las Vegas Metro Police Department will have extra personnel on duty to handle road closures and to make sure visitors can celebrate safely. They have teamed up once again this year with the Nevada Department of Transportation and Nevada State Police to begin road closures around the “Resort Corridor” and Downtown late Saturday afternoon to prepare for the masses to celebrate on The Strip and Fremont Street Experience. At 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2022, Nevada State Police and NDOT will begin closing the off ramps from I-15 at Flamingo in both directions.
At 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, they will begin shutting down vehicular traffic on Las Vegas Boulevard by closing roads and driveways into the resort properties between Tropicana Avenue and Spring Mountain Road.
At 8 p.m. on Saturday, Las Vegas Boulevard will be closed to all vehicular traffic between Tropicana Avenue and Spring Mountain Road.
At 2 a.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2023, officials will begin opening all roads to resort properties. Street sweeping operations on Las Vegas Boulevard will begin around 3 a.m.
At 5 a.m. on Sunday, Las Vegas Boulevard should be open to all vehicular traffic.
According to an article from November 30, 2022 written by Martha Cruz on News3LV.com, road closures in Downtown Las Vegas will begin on Friday, December 30, 2022 on “Bridger Avenue from Third Street to Casino Center Boulevard and Third from Bridger to Carson Avenues.” These closures will not reopen until 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2023.
In addition, on Saturday, December 31, 2022, further road closures Downtown include “Casino Center Boulevard from Carson to Ogden Avenues; Fourth Street from Carson to Ogden Avenues.” These closures should be reopened by 6 a.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

The properties include MGM Grand, Aria Resort and Casino, Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Casino and Resort, Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, Resorts World Las Vegas and The STRAT!
Downtown Las Vegas will also have a great night of festivities and great performances from bands like Sugar Ray, All-4-One, The Wailers, DJ Skribble, and more. Tickets for this even cost $50.
