3 Best (Real) Filet Mignons In Las Vegas Worth The Money
Looking for a good filet mignon? A tender and lean cut of beef that melts in your mouth?
Well, instead of getting the top choice of the cow, you may be getting duped into the livestock “bottom” line. Or is that the restaurant chain’s bottom line? I’m going with the latter.
Restaurant Chains Swapping Filet Mignon for Top Sirloin
There have been reports of restaurant chains in the U..S switching out filet mignon with top sirloin. So basically, non-ground hamburger. So, in other words, if you’re eating steak at Outback, you may be getting the ol’ bait and switch, according to WSBTV.com
A butcher recently sat with WSBTV in Atlanta and blind-tested five different “filets.” One From Carrabba’s, two from different Outback locations, and the last two from different LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants. And the results?
Well, let’s just say two out of five swapped out the meats and served up top sirloin instead of filet mignon. One of those restaurants was Carrabba’s. The other? Outback Steakhouse.

This is upsetting. I mean, I’ve been craving a good steak for a minute now, but quite frankly I don’t want to put out the $75-$100 for a slab of meat. And now you’re telling me the cheap joints are, well, not only cheap but lying to me? Not Cool.
So, if you can’t trust Outback Steakhouse, who can you trust?
I’m kidding. Of course, I’m not going to trust Outback for a serious carnivore outing, but what places can you trust for a good cut of filet for a reasonable price? Well, these days, it’s tough. I mean finding a deal, not the steak itself. Or at least it shouldn’t be.
For instance, Hugo’s Cellar. I really loved this place. It’s in The Four Queens, it’s downtown and before the pandemic, you could get a 10 oz filet mignon for $65. The deal included a salad made at the table, rice and veggies. Plus, they give chocolate-covered fruit at the end of the meal. Now that same meal is $98. But in the scheme of things, it’s still a deal. Besides, Hugo’s is old-school Vegas with brick walls, low ceiling and every woman gets a rose that she has no idea what to do with after the meal because she doesn’t want to carry it around Fremont. Or is that just me?
I’m also a fan of Echo and Rig in Summerlin. Yes, you have to wade through the hoity-toity housewives of Queensridge. But the filet is $39, and you can grab a couple of apps and get out of there for $100. So in other words, The steak is so good, and it’s worth enduring the stank of judgment, botox overload and the clouds Chanel Sycamore.
But hands down the best place to grab a steak without breaking the bank is Herbs and Rye during happy hour. You can get a filet mignon half off. The ambiance is the very essence of a steakhouse, it’s comfortable and there’s no uppity steakhouse nonsense. The staff is super cool. They make great drinks as well, so I’ve heard.
So now that my craving for steak is even more dominant, I think I’ll head to a place I can trust, but that my bottom line approves of as well.
