Man Threatens Fashion Show Mall Employees With Knife
When you go to Fashion Show Mall, it’s suppose to be a fun time of shopping. But for a few unsuspecting shoppers, this particular day turned into a violent affair that led to the brandishing of a knife and a gun on mall property.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrested Letrelle Calhoun, 22, for allegedly threatening store employees with a knife on March 23. Documents don’t specify what store or exactly how many employees Calhoun is accused of threating.
According to 8 News Now, after Calhoun allegedly threatened employees, security was able to find him in another area of the mall where he was “flashing a knife.” But this isn’t where the situation quells.
Security officers saw Calhoun acting erratically and tried to walk him off the property, according to Fox 5.
News reports state that while walking Calhoun off the property, the accused suspect became aggressive and threatened to kill the security officers. Calhoun lunged at the three security officers and said verbal threats, according to Fox 5.
This is when a “Good Samaritan” — who witnessed the melee — pulled out a gun and pointed it at Calhoun. This gave officers the perfect chance to disarm the knife-carrying assailant.
On Saturday, Judge Daniel Westmeyer set Calhoun’s bail at $5,000.
Fashion Show Mall has received quite the media attention. In December 2022, police arrested 41-year-old Jeremy Schumacher for threating a mass shooting at the mall. He was a former marine who served in Afghanistan and had substance abuse issues. According to Fox 5, Schumacher threatened to “shoot up” his ex-girlfriend’s place of work, which was at Fashion Show Mall.
His ex-girlfriend is the one who ultimately reported this potential issue to the police. According to news reports and police records from that time, the police officers found a plethora of weapons at Schumacher’s condo including an AR-style rifle, flash bangs, armor-piercing bullets, high-capacity magazines, a grenade launcher, and smoke generators.
