Things To Know About The Las Vegas Strip For New Year’s Eve
If you’re planning to head to the Las Vegas Strip for New Year’s Eve, there are things you should know before you go.
Public officials in Las Vegas met today to discuss preparations for the upcoming New Year’s festivities on the Strip. Including what visitors can and cannot bring. As well as road closures visitors and residents should expect.
Those in attendance included Andrew Walsh. Who is the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department undersheriff. Additionally, Clark County Commission Chairman Jim Gibson and Commissioner Michael Naft were there. As well Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman. They were joined by Clark County Fire Chief John Steinbeck, City of Las Vegas Fire Chief Fernando Gray and Switch Senior Vice President of Sustainability Alise Porto.
Las Vegas New Year’s Eve Road Closures
After the meeting, details about road closures for New Year’s Eve were announced. They include the I-15 off-ramps at Flamingo in both directions. Which will be shut down starting at 5:30 p.m. Las Vegas Boulevard from Spring Mountain Road to Tropicana Avenue will be shut down beginning at 6:30 p.m. And by 8:00 p.m., they entire Las Vegas Strip will be closed to all vehicle traffic.
Curfews
Minors under the age of 18 will not be allowed on the Las Vegas Strip or in the Downtown area during the Strip closure.
Prohibited Items
There is also a list of things visitors may not bring to the Las Vegas Strip on New Year’s Eve. Including glass and metal containers, coolers and strollers. Additionally, no bag larger than 12x12x6 inches are allowed. Which includes backpacks, luggage and purses exceeding those dimensions.
