Idiot or Ignorant: Can A Guy Actually Not Know He’s Uncircumcised?
Q: On The Cooper and Anthony Show, Taylor, who is in her mid 20s, told us something surprising. She said that she hooked up with a good friend and then after they had sex, he asked her is he was circumcised or not. He said he didn’t know. Spoiler: he wasn’t. But Taylor wanted to know why was he confused? How could he not know?
A: It does seem weird, we agree, but a man with little to no sexual experience may not know the difference and he may have been afraid to ask anyone in the past. He asked you because you are his friend and he feels comfortable with you.
But Yes, it is possible for a man not to know if his own penis is circumcised or not, especially if he was circumcised at a very young age or from a family who doesn’t discuss this sort of thing.
Since he was not, there probably was no discussion at his home growing up about it and you can assume no religious affiliation that would have keyed him in. Like, if he was Jewish he would have gone to a bris, let’s say, and learned what it was and asked those questions, but he obviously grew up in an environment where that wasn’t a thing.
In some cases, individuals may not be familiar with the differences between circumcised and uncircumcised penises, and they might not have actively examined their own genitalia to determine their own circumcision status.
What’s interesting is, more studies show that more women can’t determine if a man is circumcised or not, but less research showing a man’s assessment of his own penis status. Which means this is likely uncommon and he is in a very small minority of men who truly don’t know., But as you’ve seen, it is actually possible.
