Avoid These Common Sex Injuries
If you’ve ever seen Sex Sent Me To The ER on TLC, you know that it’s one broken penis after another. We’re here to help you avoid common sex injuries. This week on The Cooper and Anthony Show, we found an article by an ER doctor, Dr. Kanwal Bawa, with some simple warnings. She had some tips to keep yourself out of the ER for sex-related injuries. Here are some of our favorites:
USE YOUR VIAGRA AS PRESCRIBED AND YOU’LL STAY OUT OF THE ER
Apparently, Viagra related ER visits are quite common and they happen for several reasons.
- You take a pill and a few minutes later decide, “Hey this isn’t working” so you take another. You know that warning, IF YOUR ERECTION LASTS MORE THAN FOUR HOURS SEE A DOCTOR? Well, Dr. Bawa is that doc who says her biggest issue (pun intended) with Viagra or Cialis takers is that they don’t read the label so they take too much and then she has to help.
- Dr. Bawa also said that some men are so ashamed, they tell the intake nurse they came in for a stomach ache. Don’t do that. Because the triage nurse will mark you down as a non-emergency and you and your erection will sit, uncomfortably, in the waiting room for a long time.
- Don’t be embarrassed. You can cause permanent damage. One guy was so ashamed he waited 24 hours but by then it was too late. He became permanently impotent.
- Find out why you have ED before popping a pill, she says. There’s a chance it’s just your antidepressant or a side effect of some other meds. Adjust those and you’ll be good as new.
TRY ALL SEX POSITIONS EXCEPT “REVERSE COWGIRL”
- Dr. Bawa says that she has seen more injured, fractured or broken penises from “Reverse Cowgirl” than any other sex position. RC is where your partner is straddling you but facing away from you.
- “The penis doesn’t have a bone, but the tissue can feel like it’s popped or snapped,” she adds.
- This could also happen during doggy-style or anal, but that’s much less common
DON’T PUT ANYTHING UP YOUR BUM UNLESS IT’S A SEX TOY MADE FOR THAT AREA
- If you’re into butt-play you may have noticed that sex toys for that part of the body have two important features. One is that it’s usually silicone so it’s easy to remove and two, that it has a flat, flared base like a handle so you can easily pull it out.
- Dr. Bawa says not to use fruit or vegetables. Not only has she pulled several out of orifices, she warns that they are also not sanitary. That could be an even bigger issue, especially if you end up in the ER to have it removed!
Dr. Bawa’s best advice is to always use lubrication. That way if you ever have a sex issue that might send you to her, you have a chance of coming out of the situation with no permanent damage.
