What’s A Normal Amount Of Sex Per Week?
This week on the show, Charlotte called to ask about her sex life. She is married with a 1 year old and said they are not having as much sex as they used to. She was wondering how many times a week does the average couple need to have sex?
When researchers survey men, in general, about their average sexual needs they always say, “a few times a week” but that isn’t always true and it varies from guy to guy. For married couples the average, when asked, is once a week. But you don’t know if the couples are being honest since you’re not in their bedroom.
Some people are like, OMG we NEVER have sex, it’s like once a week! And other people are like, OMG we ALWAYS have sex, it’s like ONCE A WEEK! The idea of “a lot” is subjective.
It is difficult to provide a definitive answer to the question of how much sex the average couple has, as there are many factors that can influence sexual frequency and behavior. However, based on research studies and surveys conducted in recent years, we can get some insights into the sexual habits of couples.
One study conducted by the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction found that the frequency of sexual activity among couples can vary widely, ranging from a few times per week to a few times per month. On average, couples reported having sex about once a week. However, this number is just an average, and there is a great deal of variability around it.
Other factors that can influence sexual frequency and behavior include age, health, relationship status, and personal preferences. For example, younger couples tend to have sex more often than older couples, and couples who are in the early stages of a relationship tend to have more sex than those who have been together for a longer period of time.
Additionally, stress, fatigue, and other life events can impact sexual frequency and behavior. Couples who are dealing with work or family stress, health issues, or other challenges may have less sex than those who are not facing such difficulties.
It is also worth noting that sexual frequency is not necessarily a measure of the quality of a relationship. Couples who have sex less frequently may still have a happy and fulfilling relationship, while couples who have sex more frequently may not necessarily be happier or more satisfied with their relationship.
Overall, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to the question of how much sex the average couple has. Sexual frequency and behavior can vary widely depending on a variety of factors, and what is important is that couples communicate openly with each other about their needs and desires, and work together to build a fulfilling and satisfying sexual relationship.
